The fabric looks like cotton but is coated with a Teflon stain-resistant coating It can be cleaned using a mild detergent and just wiped off. You can wash in the machine but you must iron the back with a hot iron to reinforce the coated acrylic. The more you will wash the less coating you will have. For heavy stains, we recommend spraying it with a window cleaner or simple detergent and letting it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.
